The Express Entry Immigration Canada program is a highly efficient and streamlined system for individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada as skilled workers. This program allows qualified candidates to create an online profile and enter a pool of candidates who are waiting for an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Eligibility for the Express Entry program is determined by a points-based system that assesses factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. Individuals who score enough points and meet the criteria of one of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs may be eligible to enter the Express Entry pool and receive an invitation to apply.

The Express Entry program has several advantages, including a faster processing time, the ability to receive job offers from Canadian employers, and the ability to bring dependents along. In addition, successful applicants receive a permanent resident visa, which grants them full access to all the benefits and opportunities available to Canadian citizens.

Immigrant applicants must apply online through Express Entry for one of three federal economic immigration programs:

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW) is a program for skilled workers. The program is suitable for engineers, programmers, and managers with higher education.

The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST) is a program for blue-collar workers with a 1-year job offer from a Canadian employer in a craft occupation. The FSTP has specific NOC requirements for eligible occupations. Applicants must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equivalent amount in part-time work) in one of the following NOC codes:

  • Major Group 72: industrial, electrical and construction trades
  • Major Group 73: maintenance and equipment operation trades
  • Major Group 82: supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture, and related production
  • Major Group 92: processing, manufacturing, and utilities supervisors and central control operators
  • Minor Group 632: chefs and cooks
  • Minor Group 633: butchers and bakers

Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a federal immigration program for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada and want to become permanent residents. To be eligible for the CEC, applicants must have work experience in a skilled occupation that is classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system. Applicants must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada in one of the following NOC codes: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, or TEER 3.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is one of the three federal economic immigration programs the Government of Canada offers. It is designed to help highly skilled workers from around the world obtain permanent residency in Canada.

To qualify for the FSW, applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements, including having at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled occupation and scoring a minimum of 67 points out of a possible 100 on the program’s selection factors grid. Additional factors, such as age, education, language proficiency, and adaptability, are also taken into consideration during the application process. In terms of family considerations, applicants can also earn additional points on the CRS (maximum 10 points) for factors such as having a spouse or common-law partner who is also applying, having relatives in Canada, or having previous work or study experience in Canada.

Here are the three main steps to apply for the FSW program:

  1. Check your eligibility:To be eligible for the FSW program, you must meet certain requirements, such as having at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled occupation, and scoring a minimum of 67 points on the program’s selection factors grid, included additional points for having a spouse or common-law partner who is also applying. Important notice, you must pass a language test at least CLB level 7 or higher.
  2. Submit your application:Once you determine your eligibility, you can submit your application for permanent residency under the FSW program. You will need to provide the necessary documentation, such as proof of work experience, education, language proficiency, and more. After the registration in the system, your profile is actual for one year. Being in the Express Entry pool, the system restarts scoring based on certain criteria: human capital factors, spouse or common-law partner factors, skill transferability factors and some additional points.
  3. Wait for a decision:After you submit your application, you will need to wait for a decision from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This process can take several months. During the waiting time, the candidate has the option of adding any information to download which can increase his chance. The selection of candidates is determined by the ministry based on scores, and approximately once or twice a month sends out invitations to candidates who have the best scores according to the CRS system. If the applicant is chosen and approves the invitation to apply received from the IRCC, he must submit a complete application within 60 days. After submission of your documents for permanent residence, the finalization of the process can be done within 6-12 months.

It’s essential to understand this immigration program is literally the pool of bright candidates and the Government selects the best and invites them for applying for permanent residence.
