Alberta Advantage (AAIP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Applicants must have the necessary skills or plan to buy or start a business in Alberta.

It is reported that beginning March 17, 2025, AAIP will no longer invite candidates through the family ties and in-demand occupations pathways under Express Entry. However, candidates can continue to receive points for qualifying family ties (parent, sibling, child) in Alberta if their family members are Canadian citizens or permanent residents over the age of 18 under the Interest System launched in September 2024.
It was also announced that Alberta will not participate in the federal government’s “Interim National Policy to Facilitate the Issuance of Work Permits to Potential Provincial Nominee Program Candidates” in 2025.
