Great news for foreign workers who want to receive additional training

The government recently announced plans to introduce a number of new measures to support Canada’s construction industry as part of the 2025-2027 immigration plan. These include convening a tripartite council to assess the needs of the industry by attracting the skilled workers needed for Canada, as well as regulating and supporting foreign students and unstated workers.

To build on the success of initiatives such as the GTA’s pilot program for unstated construction workers, IRCC is looking to create a pathway for them to work in the construction sector. This will give undocumented immigrants living and working in Toronto the opportunity to remain here legally to help keep the housing construction that the economy needs going.
