It has become known that the application period for the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program (PGP) in 2024 has closed. The date of new application opportunities will be announced later.
In addition, the Ministry shared current plans for processing already submitted applications. For the 2024 intake, IRCC will invite 35,700 people from the remaining people who submitted the Interest in Sponsorship form in 2020. This will help IRCC reach its goal of accepting 20,500 complete applications.
It is appropriate to recall the selection principle for this program: A citizen or permanent resident of Canada can apply for sponsorship of their parents and grandparents by completing the Interest in Sponsorship form. After that, if the application was randomly selected by IRCC, then he or she can already submit the remaining documents. This must be done within the period specified in the invitation.
