There is a new checklist for applicants for citizenship from Canadian Immigration Officials. The main aim is to ensure that applicants submit the required documents on an expeditious basis. Thoroughly check that you use the correct form and that you are within Canada when you submit your application.
There are several requirements that you’ll need to meet:
• You must be at least 18 years old to apply.
• You must have been a permanent resident of Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) out of the five years before you apply.
• You must be able to speak and understand either English or French, Canada’s two official languages.
• You must have knowledge of Canada’s history, values, institutions, and symbols. This is tested through a citizenship exam.
• You must not have been convicted of any serious crimes or be under a deportation order.
• You must have filed income tax returns for at least three years during the five-year period before you apply.
• Once you have met these requirements, you can complete the citizenship application form, gather the required documents, and submit your application.
Note that the requirements and application process may change over time, so it’s always a good idea to check the official government website for the most up-to-date information or contact us and save your time.
Here are some important tips for filling out an application for Canadian citizenship:
• Before you start filling out the application form, read the instructions carefully, how to fill out the form correctly and what documents you need to include.
• Be truthful and accurate, if you provide false or misleading information, your application could be rejected, and you could face more serious consequences.
• Make sure you fill out all sections of the application form, even if the section doesn’t seem relevant to you. If a section doesn’t apply to you, write “not applicable” or “N/A” in the space provided.
• Make sure you include all the required documents with your application form.
• Submit your application on time.
• Keep a copy of your application in case you need to refer to them later.
